Shedden Fair

    Agricultural Society

The Shedden Agricultural Society was formed in 1854 in Iona, Ontario.  The fair was originally held as a plowing match event in the south east corner of Iona.  As years progressed, the fair was gradually moved to the northern side of Shedden by the railway system that ran through the small village.  Eventually, it was moved to the fairgrounds that it resides on today.  The grounds have been maintained and improved by the elders of the village.

    New Name

They renamed the complex to Keystone Complex, because on the County map, the Southwold municipality (in which Shedden belongs to) is in the shape of a keystone. Keystones are traditionally found in the centre of doorways and windows made of brick and stone in older buildings.

    Something for Everyone

The fair has progressed into a multitude of events over the course of two days.  The fair creates exhibits to attract the agricultural community and people of all ages in the surrounding Shedden area.  Tractor pulls, agriculture displays, demolition derbies, children’s activities, beauty pageants, junior fairs, Livestock shows and much more is available for viewing throughout this two day event. In 2011, the Shedden Agricultural Fair will celebrate its 156th year.
